Does Qaccess provide Software? back to top
Yes, Qaccess has a setup utility. It is not a stand-alone dialer, but rather configures Dial-Up Networking, a
component of Windows, as well as Outlook Express for your email. The software is now compatible with
Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, and 2000. It is not compatible with any Mac or Linux systems - those have to be
configured manually. Qaccess does not provide browsers or email client software. You will need a browser, such
as Internet Explorer or Netscape. We do have web-based email on our website.

I have a 56K modem, why can't I connect at 56K? back to top
All of our access numbers are V90 or V92/56K, however you will never connect at 56K, this is a theoretical speed. In reality, analog throughput is limited to a maximum of 53.333kbps per FCC regulations. Although 53.333kbps is the maximum speed, some operating systems may incorrectly report a higher speed.

The connection speed is very dependent on the phone line quality, the hardware/software, and environmental conditions. It can fluctuate.

To make sure you connect at the maximum speed, you can verify that you have the latest update on your software programs and modem drivers (check your hardware and software vendors' web sites) and unplug any other equipment using the same phone line as your modem.

You should try different access numbers in your area (using a different path thru the phone network you might get a better connection). You should try again and see if you get a better speed at a different time (this may fluctuate during the day and over time).

Do I need to download software to access Qaccess? back to top
Although it is not necessary, we recommend that you use our setup utility as it configures your email and connection for you. However, if you prefer, you can create your own connection and set up your email manually. To assist you, we have listed instructions in our Technical Support Section that will show you exactly how to get connected to Qaccess.

Does Qaccess offer high speed or DSL access? back to top
No, we focus our energy on offering the highest quality dial up internet service at the best possible price.

Can I use my WebTV/Playstation2/DreamCast or other Internet Appliance? back to top
Yes. There are no restrictions regarding what operating system you can use with our service. You will however have to find out if your appliance can use the @ symbol in its login name.

The Qaccess access number in my area is the same as my previous ISP, why? back to top
It is common for ISP's in certain areas to share access points.
